NNG is seeking a Map Specialist to join our Budapest-based department responsible for managing map content for in-car navigation systems.
Do you want to be part of the process that enhances the navigation customer experience by keeping the map content fresh and up-to-date?
You are the ideal candidate if you have experience with geospatial software (such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or possibly MapInfo) as well as RDBMS software (such as MS SQL, PostgreSQL…), have a strong interest in cartography or geography, and strive to deliver the highest quality of work. If you want to further develop your database management skills, improve your SQL knowledge, are communicative and helpful, willing to support stakeholders on professional issues, and interested in joining a great team, then we are looking for you!

What would be your job?
What would be your responsibilities?
- Manage databases of global raw data providers and convert them into our proprietary raw data format using internally developed tools
- Operate basic internally developed statistical tools, analyze their outputs, and conduct comparative tests based on the results
- Analyze raw data and provide insights or detailed comments to partners
- Actively communicate with internal development teams, testers, and external partners regarding technical issues
- Continuously explore how to automate, accelerate and streamline the current process in response to changing project needs
- Actively participate in and share knowledge within the professional community

If you have
The ideal candidate should possess the following
Experience: University degree, Bachelor’s (BSc), in cartography, geoinformatics, or computer science
Language Skills: Strong knowledge of Hungarian and English
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in ArcGIS, QGIS, or possibly MapInfo
- Proficient in MS SQL, PostgreSQL
- Basic knowledge of SQL and database management
- Experience with using FTP, file management systems
- Basic knowledge of descriptive languages (e.g. XML…)
Interpersonal Skills:
Quality-oriented attitude, attention to detail, high level of independence and proactivity, excellent communication skills, ability to quickly and effectively process new information based on training materials, with a strong understanding of the broader context.
Bravery to speak up candidly, if you see risks, problems or if you want to propose ways to improve the process.
